Sometimes critical articles or paid through media agencies can be very dangerous. Especially because there is a risk that the task falls on a true apprentice journalist who writes nonsense, or what is worse, to distort history by sheer ignorance. I say this in reference to an article in The Vanguardia.com on July 11, 2014 titled Fashion and the art will unite, in nueva tienda labor board de Isabel de Pedro in Barcelona. I think that the erroneous information published is grown on who wrote the article. I do not think the owners of the new store have drafted a press release with historical errors so serious. In another labor board article published in El País on July 8 correct information is given, but the title conveys a certain frivolity: Art in the prêt-à-porter. (1)
Clothing labor board store in question, now occupies the space that for 38 years, was the headquarters of the Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona. The gallery said in homage to the old shop owner, the hatter John Prats. To clarify the errors that publishes Vanguardia.com, I must say that John Prats, labor board who had the hat shop in Catalonia labor board Ramblas 54, was a lover and protector of the arts, especially the man was Trusted by Joan Miró. From Barcelona, always guarded their interests. Through correspondence between Miro Meadows and I could read in 93 (2), I deduced that Meadows was a practical man, who asked that Miró solved all sorts of topics, from personal issues orders Financial. In Meadows never had an art gallery, as published that article, nor was reconocido Catalan artist arte (I quote). labor board Despite having studied at the School of the Art Circle and Market St. Luke, which highlights his inclination towards art, was responsible for managing the family business dedicated to the manufacture and sale of hats. Always recognized his work in defense of the art and artists, and as such occupies labor board a place in history; but as a driver, not an artist. The gallery was opened in 1976 at the hands of John and Manuel Muga, and it was the latter, the owner of the gallery, from then until now. In 1970, the year of the death of Meadows, had not yet started work on what would be the future labor board of the family photo Muga. The author of the article labor board Vanguardia.com (and everyone, given the confusion caused by informational articles published during the week), I would recommend reading the text Cirici labor board wrote the catalog for the exhibition opening Galeria Joan Prats 1976.
In any case, read all information published in the press on the occasion of the opening of clothing store Isabel de Pedro, I experienced an intense anguish, a sort of shudder. True clothing store owners have rented the space occupied Galeria Joan Prats and have every right to take the trail of John Prats (the character, labor board not the gallery); and even follow the trend of mixing art and fashion following what is in Milan, if you feel like it. But must not forget that those who received the testimony of Joan Prats, who began collaborating in 1962, were the Muga. From then until his death in Meadows directed the collection "photoscopes", published by Editions Polígrafa (a company of the same family who founded the gallery), and the one who made contact with many artists edge as Miro, Tapies, Rubbish, Sert Llorens Artigas, Calder, Chillida, and so on. It is true that I have been part of this gallery for many years of my life and I can not be impartial in any way, but the nature labor board of the media campaign that has appeared over the past week, I caused great uneasiness. To confused, scattered, and intricate as in the case of Vanguardia.com, misinformed.
(2.) - In 1993, commemorating the centenary of the birth of Joan Miró, we organized a large exhibition of prints by the artist in Galeria Joan Prats-Artgràfic. This exhibition presented some of the correspondence between John Prats and Joan Miró.
Dear Anna, having regard to Rule Before I answer late, true, due to an extremely busy week, but said, that is what counts.
